Job Description

The Self-Driving Hardware team is looking for a Senior Firmware Engineer to join the team in Palo Alto, CA. Firmware Engineers are expected to develop, test, and document firmware for the Self-Driving system.
The successful applicant will join a team of deeply knowledgeable Engineers and have an opportunity to solve ambitious and challenging problems in the embedded and server infrastructure software space. The applicant will work closely with hardware teams and have opportunities to engage in real hardware and software co-design tradeoffs of complex server systems.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality C code in a real-time embedded environment
  • Specify, design, and implement functionality and behaviors of embedded subsystems
  • Design the software architecture and firmware implementation on hardware through integration, test and high-volume manufacturing
  • Hands-on hardware bring-up, system debugging and code optimization
  • Make performance and optimization trade-offs to meet product requirements
Requirements
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in embedded development in robotics, real-time controls, or system software
  • Proficiency in C, C++, and Python
  • Fluent with silicon system firmware concepts including core and memory management, RTOS, interrupts and ISR, self-checking code, protocol buffers, low-speed communication protocols, AXI and APB bus
  • Fluent in software fundamentals including software design and maintainability
  • Controls software and algorithm development
  • Test driven development and familiarity with developer driven automated testing
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate complex technical concepts
  • Development experience with safet and embedded oriented languages such as Rust or Spark ADA
  • Experience with STM32 microcontroller integrated circuits and embedded microprocessor tools

    Expected Compensation

    $120,000 - $210,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
