Job Description:
The Fire Alarm Install Technician will be responsible for performing pre-work job analyses to identify potential obstacles to work execution. This role requires close communication with the installation team to address questions regarding system component requirements. The technician will be involved in the programming, testing, and commissioning of all applicable technology systems.
Key responsibilities include performing system tests for submittal requirements and live tests with local code enforcement authorities as needed. The technician may need to stay overnight at a company-provided hotel if multi-day work is required at a remote location. The ability to learn new systems on the job and apply that knowledge to system integrations is essential.
The Install Technician will work in a variety of environments, including both established and new construction sites. They will be fully responsible for the final execution of the scope and specifications defined at the awarding of the job and any subsequent change orders. Additionally, the technician may be required to participate in a weekly on-call rotation, where they could be dispatched after-hours for emergency service work.
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Experience Requirements:
- 5 years of combined experience in fire alarm and electrical work
Certification Requirements:
- NICET I Certification (Required)
- NICET II Certification (Preferred)
- Ability to obtain state alarm license (includes required background screening)
- Ability to obtain aerial lift certification
- OSHA 10 Certification
- Valid driver’s license (must be maintained)
- PREA training and certification (may be required)
- Site-specific safety and background screening (may be required)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly
- Capable of working on ladders, scaffolds, and aerial lift platforms
- May be required to work in confined spaces while adhering to OSHA and company safety standards
- Clear and professional communication skills with both customers and co-workers
Recommended Skills:
- Strong experience in troubleshooting and repairing fire alarm systems, security systems, access control, nurse call systems, cameras, detention systems, integration controls, and networks
- Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Understanding of electrical and building systems (HVAC, elevator, automation)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
