Description
This person must have no less than1 years experience, answering multiple phone lines, processing patient intakes, collecting copays, validating patient insurance, scheduling new patient consults, obtaining prior-authorizations. Experience working with Workman’s Comp and Letter of Protection Patients a plus. Must have knowledge about insurance carriers.
MUST HAVE PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WORKING IN A MEDICAL OFFICE.
MUST HAVE COMPUTER EXPERIENCE and MUST BE TECHNOLOGY SAAVY. Our office is 100% electronic medical record-based. No paper charts. This individual must be able to operate efficiently through electronic forms for patient intake process.
This individual performs a variety of front office duties for the physician practice under the supervision of the Practice Manager. This person is responsible for providing positive customer service to the patient by phone and in person.
We are a privately owned and operated practice. Our physician is a board certified anesthesiologist and board certified pain management physician.
Responsibilities:
- Answer and triage telephone calls
- Take accurate messages as required
- Proficient computer knowledge; Aptitude to learn electronic medical record system
- Schedule appointments via electronic appointment scheduler
- Update patient demographic information in the computer
- Maintain Benchmark Reporting
- Check patient in and out of office
- Collect patient copays and unpaid balances. Reconcile copays daily and give to Practice Manager
- Provide insurance referrals and obtain insurance authorizations
- Respond to all patient calls once reviewed by physician
- Consistently check fax machine throughout the day as well as making sure machine is stocked with paper
- Call all patients and remind them of their appointments at least one day prior to visit
- Scan paper documents in to electronic medical record throughout each day
-Call Workman’s Comp adjusters and/or Attorney offices for prior approvals
-All other tasks as directed by Practice Manager
-Maintain patient confidentiality and seek assistance when needed
-Maintain effective interpersonal relationships and assume responsibility and accountability
-Responsible for printing out daily schedule
-Send new patient packages to patients via mail
-Maintain Cancellation List
-Ability to remain calm and focused to patient needs. Effective communication skills with patients and staff. Team Player with the ability to take initiative.
