Reliability Engineer

The Musco Reliability Team is currently seeking a Reliability Engineer to work from our Oskaloosa office. This position will focus on reliability-engineering efforts; including planning, analysis, and test activities; in support of multiple product development and sustaining engineering programs with the goal of improving product/system safety, reliability, and maintainability.. What you will do as a Reliability Engineer:

  • Work with product development engineers to incorporate design-for-reliability principles into new product and system design efforts.
  • Provide technical leadership to product development engineers and test engineers in the planning and implementation of reliability-evaluation activities based on expected customer use environment and operational conditions.
  • Work with data scientists to determine test deliverables for reliability analysis.
  • Participate in Design of Experiments for investigation into reliability issues.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to improve failure-data collection and analysis, perform root-cause and trend analysis, and determine required corrective actions.
  • Use technical knowledge and experience to continuously improve Musco’s reliability engineering processes.
  • Determine impact of field failures in terms of service and cost throughout a product’s lifecycle.
  • Assist with building and evaluating warranty cost models.
  • Assist with analysis of data related to field performance issues.
  • Participate in identification of root cause, corrective actions, and verification of corrective action effectiveness.
  • Participate in resolution of any potential product safety issues and recommend appropriate action necessary to resolve such issues.
  • Other duties as assigned

What you need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Experience in reliability engineering of electronic products strongly preferred.
  • Experience in reliability engineering for mechanical and/or electromechanical products a plus.
  • Knowledge of failure analysis, accelerated test techniques, reliability statistics, system reliability modeling, FMEA, HALT, HASS, Physics of Failure analysis techniques, and life data analysis as they apply to electronic products is preferred.

Special Skills:

  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong data analysis and statistical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills. Able to communicate well with both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Certifications:

  • ASQ Certified Reliability certificate, or willingness to obtain certification is a strong plus
