Programmed, in partnership with Tweed Shire Council has an exciting opportunity for a 1st Year New Entrant Parks and Garden Apprentice commencing January 2025.

Programmed are seeking motivated applicants that have a passion for plants, gardening maintenance, landscaping and turf preparation with a strong desire to work in the horticulture - parks and gardens industry and have the drive to commit to a 4-year apprenticeship.
As a full-time Apprentice, you may be eligible to receive a total of $5,000 in Government incentives under the Australian Apprenticeships Incentive System.
Working as a Horticulture Parks and Gardens Apprentice at Tweed Shire Council may see you completing the following tasks:
- Mowing, snipping, brush cutting.
- Trimming and hedging.
- Mulching and weeding.
- Turf preparation.
- Irrigation work.
- Spraying.
- Planting and tree maintenance.
- Plant identification (native and exotic species).
- Work as a team member.
- Attend safety Toolbox Talks, contribute to the team's safety.
To be considered you must have the following:
- Competent numeracy and literacy skills.
- Positive attitude.
- Current drivers licence and reliable transport.
- Completed year 10 education at a minimum.
- General Construction Induction Card (White Card) prior to commencement.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for horticulture industry.
- Demonstrated capacity to work as a team member.
- Demonstrated capacity to work safely with a zero-harm attitude.
Work Location:
The position can be directed to work anywhere within the Tweed Shire however the apprentice will be rotated between 3 main depots located in Tweed Heads, Cabarita and Murwillumbah.
TAFE Requirements:
You will also be required to attend TAFE one day per week in Lismore/Alstonville NSW (Wollongbar TAFE). Travel assistance may be applicable through VTAS funding.
