About The Opportunity
As a sessional Interpreter, you will work with a wide range of healthcare providers within the South Western Sydney Local Health District.

Your interpreting services will be focused on medical/healthcare dialogues. We are looking for NAATI Certified Interpreters for Various
languages.

Depending on the location and the nature of the medical appointment, you will provide telephone, video interpreting and face-to-face interpreting.

What you'll be doing
To provide interpreting in a full range of health care settings, including but not limited to public hospitals and community health facilities.

Engagement shall be on a sessional (contractual) basis and subject to the operational and client needs of the SWSLHD Health Language Services

  1. NAATI certification at a provisional level as a minimum; or Recognition if certification is not available.
  2. Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  3. Capacity to interpret in medical settings.
  4. Ability to identify and convey social and cultural factors in the health care situation.
  5. Excellent time management skills and ability to perform well under pressure.
  6. Ability to identify ethical dilemmas and to deal with them in compliance with AUSIT Code of Ethics.
  7. Willingness to travel.
  8. Demonstrated experience or willingness to undertake telephone and video interpreting and and to undertake small non-complex translations.
  9. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
