Description
This position is a full-time, Fair Labor Standards Act exempt position. The regular work schedule for the Support Services Manager is Monday through Friday. Alternative work schedules may be available. Hybrid work schedules are typically not available for this position. Attendance at evening meetings or weekend events may be expected. The incumbent in this position is a Civil Service employee.
General Purpose:
The Support Services Manager works under the supervision of the Police Chief and is a functional supervisor responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Support Services Division within the Police Department. This position plans, organizes, coordinates and provides direct supervision and support to non-sworn and limited commissioned employees handling police records, police evidence, animal control and the animal shelter. The Police Support Services Manager ensures that there is smooth and efficient operation of the Support Services Division by providing supervision and performing more technical and complex tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility including record keeping and maintenance, purchasing, training, inventory, budget, customer service and administrative support programs and services including animal control and the animal shelter.

The City contracts jail services with neighboring agencies and dispatch service is provided by South Sound 911. The City of Sumner manages Metro Animal Services. Metro Animal Services is a regional animal care and control program serving the cities of Sumner, Puyallup, Algona, Bonney Lake, Edgewood, Milton and Pacific. Education and Experience

- Demonstrate administrative experience and/or demonstrate a level of experience along with formal education preferably in a civilian law enforcement agency.
- Four (4) years of recent, increasingly responsible experience in a lead or supervisory role required. Experience in police records preparation, processing, maintenance, and dissemination, evidence processing or animal control experience may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the supervisory experience requirement.
- Possession of, a valid Washington State driver's license with record free from serious or frequent violations.
- Must pass a thorough police background check including polygraph.
- Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid within 6 months of hire.

Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly basis(every other Friday).
Salary Increases: Based on satisfactory job performance, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classifications according to the salary schedule or collective bargaining agreement.
