Starting salary from £32,792 per annum, based on experience

Two full time permanent positions
Based in Thorpe Park, Leeds with hybrid working
We have an amazing opportunity for two Assistant Project Managers (Innovation) to join us here at Northern Gas Networks (NGN) who will ensure compliance with strict internal and external governance protocols in the delivery of the NGN innovation portfolio.
Reporting to the Innovation Manager as one of our Assistant Project Managers (Innovation), you will provide support and delivery of innovation projects across the NGN innovation portfolio and ensure compliance with strict internal and external governance.
The role also requires good project management skills to deliver contracts, costs, project outputs and overall performance in line with the original agreed project scope, and all confirm all evidence and reporting is correctly captured to feedback to our regulator and stakeholders.
Your key responsibilities and accountabilities will include but will not be limited to
• Responsible for the creation of business cases for potential innovation projects which are generated across all areas of operations or proposed to the business by third parties via a multitude of methods such as calls for innovation. Registering and promotion of ideas through the NGN innovation management process
• Responsible for the management and delivery of innovation projects, ensuring that all projects are managed in line with NGN and Regulatory governance requirements and registered on NGN systems in addition to the Smarter Networks Portal, as appropriate
• Responsible for maintaining stakeholder relationships from project authorisation and initiation through to project closure ensuring regular communication and reporting of project progress versus the delivery contract
• Responsible for monitoring the financial performance of projects, utilising regular financial reports to monitor actual spend versus the quotation and forecast, identifying and reporting anomalies
• Responsible for raising and recording variations and providing support to update the business case to provide continued business justification
• Responsible for liaising with the Portfolio and Assurance Manager to ensure prompt payment of invoices upon achievement of agreed deliverables and confirming payment
• Provide regular and timely reporting of project progress to project sponsors and stakeholders
• Responsible for delivering a closure report and a benefits assessment on completion of projects, actively seeking feedback from the project sponsor or stakeholder; implement any corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement
• Support the Innovation Manager in the delivery of key regulatory submissions and conferences, including the Annual Innovation Summary and conference, as well as the Annual Innovation Framework
What we are looking for in our Assistant Project Managers (Innovation)
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and networking skills, strong influencing and lobbying skills and a willingness to embrace change
• Flexible approach to working across broad topic areas and meeting tight timescales
• Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office suite of programs
• Driven, motivated and pro-active with an ability to manage priorities
• You will align your behaviours and actions to the NGN way with your understanding of NGN's business areas
• Your understanding of the gas Industry including technical and regulatory knowledge alongside your practical experience of network operational activities would be highly advantageous
• You will have the ability to deliver a portfolio of diverse projects with your knowledge of appropriate legislation, policies, and procedures and financial and investment procedures, budget management and forecasting skills
