We have a new role within our Commercial Finance team and we arelooking for a Commercial Finance Business Partner to work closely with our Trading Teams.

You will be the link from core finance to the Buying team and have great commercial influencing skills.

The ideal candidate will have worked with FMCG or retail and enjoys working at pace.

Summary of the Role:

Working as part of a high profile, business facing team, this role will support the Trading team with clear and insightful financial information, to help drive category sales and margin growth.

Purpose of Role \ Key Accountabilities

  • Presenting category sales and margin performance at weekly trading meetings to the Category Buying Managers and the Category Trading Director
  • Reporting daily margin performance vs budget at product group level, providing commentary on the week on week movements
  • Provide insightful analysis to support and enhance product/promotional sales and margin performance, proactively challenging performance when required.
  • Scenario planning the impact to sales and margin for potential price and promotion changes.
  • Supporting the Budget and Half yearly company forecast process by working closely with the category buying managers to produce category level budgets for sales, margin and commercial income
  • Actively contributing to short, medium and long term margin and Commercial income reforecasts forecasts, with a clear understanding of how current trading performance may impact margin versus budget.
  • Supporting trading team with supplier negotiations ensuring deep understanding of supplier profitability as well as impacts of costs and retail movements.
  • Lead pricing reviews to measure the competitiveness of our prices within the market and drive appropriate corrective action.
  • Review and challenge proposed trade plans for upcoming promotional cycles, identifying risks and opportunities vs budget.
  • Provide insightful analysis and review on feature space and deals performance to support future business trading team decisions.
  • Acting as the link between the trading team and the core finance team on areas such as flagging risk and opportunities on supplier funding and commercial income

Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience/Technical Skills

  • Successful candidates will have a track record of working in a fast paced environment. FMCG / retail experience advantageous
  • Strong commercial awareness and numeracy skills with a keen desire to question and challenge information.
  • Experience and evidence of helping businesses deliver and monitor financial performance with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Advanced Excel skills are essential.
  • Part qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) is desirable, but not essential.
