Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Electronic Systems to lead and grow our electronic systems team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of electronics engineering, including sensing, wiring, ECU integration, control systems development and calibration, and electric powertrain systems and components. As the Head of Electronic Systems, you will ensure the seamless integration of electronic systems into vehicle platforms, focusing on optimizing performance, reliability, and efficiency.


The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electronic systems integration, control systems, and efficiency improvement strategies for electric powertrains, with a passion for pushing the boundaries of technology in high-stakes applications.


Key Responsibilities

  • Build and lead the electronic systems team, overseeing the development and integration of systems including sensors, wiring looms, ECU integration, and electric powertrain components.
  • Define and execute strategies for ECU integration into vehicle systems, ensuring seamless communication and functionality across all components.
  • Lead the development and calibration of control systems, optimizing vehicle performance, responsiveness, and reliability.
  • Focus on efficiency improvements for electric powertrains, implementing advanced technologies and methodologies to enhance power delivery and energy consumption.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of sensing technologies, ensuring accurate and real-time data capture for vehicle systems.
  • Collaborate closely with machine learning and data science teams to enhance control strategies, optimize electronics, and implement predictive diagnostics.
  • Manage the design and optimization of wiring harnesses and electrical distribution systems, ensuring they meet performance standards for high-power and high-reliability applications.
  • Ensure all electronic systems comply with relevant industry standards, certifications, and safety protocols.
  • Drive innovation in electronic systems integration, leveraging cutting-edge technologies in areas like power electronics, sensor fusion, and advanced control algorithms.
  • Provide mentorship and technical leadership to the electronics team, fostering a culture of innovation and engineering excellence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, software, and aerodynamics engineers, to deliver integrated solutions that enhance overall vehicle performance.
  • Lead technical reviews, project management, and coordination of testing activities to ensure on-time and high-quality delivery of electronic systems for customer programs.


Preferred Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Systems, or a related field; PhD preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in electronics engineering, with expertise in sensors, ECU integration, control systems development and calibration, electric powertrain components, and wiring.
  • Proven track record of leading engineering teams and delivering high-performance electronic systems in motorsports, automotive, or aerospace applications.
  • Deep expertise in control systems development and calibration, including real-time control algorithms and system diagnostics.
  • Extensive experience with ECU integration into vehicle systems, ensuring seamless functionality and communication across electronic components.
  • Strong background in efficiency improvement strategies for electric powertrains, including motors, inverters, and energy management systems.
  • Experience working with sensing technologies, data acquisition systems, and sensor fusion in dynamic environments.
  • Proficiency in embedded systems development, including software-hardware integration and real-time processing.
  • Strong understanding of wiring systems design, including electrical distribution, harness layout, and high-reliability applications.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams along with our clients.
  • Strong project management skills, capable of delivering complex projects on time and within scope.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.


Desirable Knowledge & Experience:

  • Experience in Formula 1, motorsports, automotive, or aerospace industries.
  • Knowledge of machine learning and AI techniques as applied to control systems and electronics optimisation.
  • Hands-on experience with electric and hybrid powertrain systems, including battery management systems (BMS) and power electronics.
  • Familiarity with functional safety standards and compliance requirements (e.g., ISO 26262).
  • Experience with digital twin technologies for real-time system monitoring and predictive maintenance.
