About the role

Due to the growth of Hargreaves Lansdown's Finance function, we have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for an experienced Finance Business Partner to join our inclusive and supportive Commercial Finance team. As Finance Business Partner (FBP), you will be responsible for providing all financial support to this successful product line. This includes being accountable for all financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting to deliver insightful analysis and implementing robust financial controls. You will establish strong working relationships across the business, to support your delivery of the plan, including management of both risk and opportunity.

What you'll be doing

The successful candidate will partner with HL leadership, as an invaluable addition to their team for HL's largest product line by revenue (£500m). Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders across the business to develop an in depth understanding of the 'line of business' proposition, its clients, and their journeys.

  • Helping stakeholders and leadership understand the revenue and cost opportunities and how product and journey design impacts financial performance.

  • Contributing a balanced voice of the client, colleague, and shareholder

  • Working across Financial Control and Commercial Finance to ensure best practice ways of working.

  • Building understanding to co-create our three-year plan (3YP) and budgets, whilst ensuring risks and opportunities are considered, identified and registered, with remediation plans put into place and delivered.

  • Maintaining investment analysis; including propositional development, pricing, incentives, OD investment.

  • Being responsible for the Income Statement & Balance Sheet for underlying and strategic investment.

  • Leading on cost leadership, and the pursuit of efficiency. Drive profitable growth, and positive operating leverage.

  • Collaborating with colleagues in the data team to prepare Finance Management Information, to ensure 'financials' are underpinned by 'non-financial' insights.

  • Taking ownership of forecasting, by ensuring projections are provided with commercial rationale, and activity driven wherever possible.

  • Developing understanding of new business sales pipeline, conversion, revenue, and direct costs.

  • Working closely with the business and broader Finance team, to create accurate profitability analysis.

  • Ensuring alignment and compliance with the Consumer Duty framework and our Assessment of Value obligations.

  • Supporting and where appropriate, leading on competitor analysis to inform propositional investment opportunities, activity, and cost benchmarking.

About you

  • A qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, ACA or equivalent) with current technical knowledge and post qualification experience.

  • Ability to understand the strategic business goals of an organisation, including revenue streams and pricing, with the ability to 'look beyond the numbers' and understand the wider business context.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organisation.

  • Analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights and interpret the impact of both financial and non-financial commercial decisions.

  • Attention to detail to proactively identify and resolve issues.

  • Ability to work flexibly with conflicting demands to ensure work is scheduled to meet changing priorities and deadlines.

  • Strong financial modelling and analytical capabilities, with advanced Excel skills.

  • Initiative-taking, results-oriented, and commercial mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast paced, high growth environment.

Interview process

The selection process will incorporate competency-based questions including an assessment of your technical knowledge and transferable skills. For candidates who progress to the next stage, there will be a presentation to prepare and deliver.

Working Schedule

This role is based in Bristol head office, BS1 5HL. This role is permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We have returned to the office, however for this role we offer a hybrid flexible working pattern to enable you the option of working from home and coming into the office around twice a week. We are also happy to consider part time or condensed hours for the successful candidate.
