Job Description

Team Leader - Accommodation Team | London SE18 3TN | Office-based, with occasional travel for home visits and industry events | Flexible hours with required out-of-hours availability | Full-Time | £27,000 | Start date will be the 06/01/2025

You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the Accommodation Team, with a focus on workflow optimisation, problem-solving, and meeting performance targets. Reporting to the Accommodation Director, you will coordinate day-to-day tasks, provide guidance to the team, and ensure high standards of service delivery to students and host families.

Are you the right person for the job?

Education and Experience:

  • Preferred: Degree in Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field, though relevant experience is acceptable.
  • 2-5 years of experience in student accommodation, homestay, or similar sectors.
  • Proven leadership experience focused on performance targets and operational efficiency.

Skills:

  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities to improve workflows and meet KPIs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficient in email and phone communication.
  • Problem-solving skills for managing daily challenges.
  • Ability to motivate teams and foster a positive environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management.
  • Fluent in English: bilingual or multilingual is a plus

Other Attributes:

  • Reliable, accountable, and adaptable in managing a small team and shifting priorities.
  • Flexible with availability for out-of-hours work.

What will your role look like?

Team Coordination and Support:

  • Ensure the accommodation team meets daily/monthly KPIs.
  • Delegate tasks for smooth homestay operations, including student placements and host support.
  • Lead morning meetings to review targets and address urgent matters.
  • Oversee handovers to ensure seamless communication and task completion.

Workflow and Process Improvement:

  • Regularly assess and improve processes to boost efficiency and productivity
  • Align team activities with company goals

Host Family and Student Support:

  • Support the team in matching students with appropriate host families
  • Resolve escalated issues between students and hosts promptly

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

  • Ensure high service standards through regular checks and home visits
  • Liase with the Accommodation Director for regulatory compliance
  • Conduct spot checks on properties and ensure inspectors perform duties

Communication and Reporting:

  • Maintain clear communication on priorities, tasks, and progress
  • Report team performance and challenges to the Accommodation Director
  • Address complaints and enhance relationships with partners and hosts

Training and Development:

  • Provide ongoing training and support for team members
  • Motivate and give feedback to improve individual and team performance

Community Engagement and Industry Events:

  • Attend networking events to promote homestay services
  • Represent the company at local events to build community ties and recruit hosts
