About Tiny Tastemakers:
Tiny Tastemakers provides cooking classes for primary school-age children in St Hertfordshire. From our home in St Albans, we are dedicated to creatively equipping children aged between 5-11 with the well-being and life skills they need to thrive. Our cooking classes blend practical cooking skills with lessons on topics such as nutrition, sustainability, business, and curricular subjects like maths, English, and history. We aim to promote confidence, creativity, and well-being while encouraging even the pickiest eaters! We are passionate about making a lasting impact on children's futures through engaging and fun learning experiences.
Position Overview
As a Club Assistant at Tiny Tastemakers Ltd, you will play a pivotal role in assisting the club lead to deliver enriching cooking experiences to children, fostering independence, knowledge, and confidence. The position involves conducting the Afterschool Cooking Clubs, creating a positive learning environment, and ensuring the seamless execution of classes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in leading cooking classes for primary school children on weekdays between the hours of 2.30 pm -5 pm
- Help to execute provided recipes following the company structure to deliver engaging and educational sessions.
- Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere where all children feel welcome and encouraged to participate.
- Assist in managing groups of up to 20 children
- Maintain high standards of food preparation and safety.
- Support in the setup, organisation, and clean-down of the cooking area for each session.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children during the sessions.
- Manage class materials and supplies, ensuring they are well-organised and available for each session.
- Communicate effectively with the head office, keeping them informed of class developments
Experience and Qualifications:
- Experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting.
- Confident working with food, with the ability to integrate educational content into cooking activities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Creative, enthusiastic, and patient.
- Ability to manage a group of children and maintain a positive and safe learning environment.
- A background in education, nutrition, food, or a related field is a plus.
- Ideally, you will already be First Aid Trained and have a current DBS Check certificate
