SuccessFactors: Career Opportunities (sapsf.com) General Purpose As part of the UC Food & Beverage Operations team, the position of 3rd Cook (Line Cook) works primarily as an expedient line cook preparing made-to-order and special event food products. It is the 3rd Cook’s responsibility to ensure that the food is prepared to order, cooked properly and presented in an attractive manner meeting established standards. This position offers you the opportunity to work in the culinary field in a dynamic, team-led environment where you can develop your skills and contribute to providing quality meals for the enjoyment of our students, staff, faculty, and community members. Duties and Responsibilities The incumbent must possess a developed knowledge of food preparation techniques, the ability to produce food with minimal wastage, meet established quality standards, and work in a fast paced, high volume kitchen environment. In addition to operating all kitchen equipment, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring all public health requirements are met and thorough cleanliness of equipment and work station is maintained at all times. The incumbent will work with other full-time and part-time staff in perform various kitchen tasks and other duties as assigned. This position will be scheduled for regular shifts in The Brass Taps Pub and The Lookout - Rooftop Patio Grad Lounge establishments. Requirements Secondary school graduation and related work experience in the hospitality industry in a fast food environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred requirements include: Safe Food Handling Certification, excellent communication and public relations skills, and knowledge of specialized cooking equipment i.e. fryer, food processor, slicer, convection oven. The incumbent must be willing to work a flexible shift schedule including regular nights and weekends. Regular annual schedule is August to May, with schedule subject to change based on operational requirements.
