Job Summary
Under general supervision, performs complex preventative maintenance and corrective repair of buildings, building systems equipment and grounds, monitors building system operations and performance by performing the following duties.

All candidates conditionally offered transfer, promotion or initial hiring into a DOT/safety-sensitive position shall submit to testing for drugs and alcohol and test negative before performing any job functions that are safety-sensitive or require a CDL. Essential Job Functions
• Assist with the operation, maintenance and repair of all plumbing systems.
• Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and County directives related to building operations and work safety.
• Participate in the assembly, installation and repair of pipes, water supply, equipment, sprinkler systems, waste disposal systems and French drains.
• Install and service natural gas lines.
• Monitor County buildings for existing or potential problems.
• Read blueprints for proper remodeling and new installation of plumbing.
• Oversee and inspect the work performed by outside contractors.
• Perform snow removal, sand bagging and cleaning of properties
• Perform assigned work orders.
• Estimate time and materials needed to complete repairs.
• Respond quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
• Maintain safe working conditions; identify and correct or report unsafe conditions in work areas.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Skill in using plumbing tools and equipment; in analyzing and evaluating needs and requirements; in reading blueprints; and in preparing bids and reports.

Knowledge of plumbing codes; of specifications for water, natural gas, and drainage systems; of the hazards and safety precautions of the work; and of departmental policies and procedures.

Ability to maintain and repair plumbing; to estimate the cost of jobs; to read plans, sketches, and manufacturer's specifications; to rebuild and repair pumps; to maintain the physical stamina necessary to perform heavy manual labor; to assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, fixtures, and equipment; and to use hand and mechanical tools and equipment.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software, Design software, Internet software, Inventory Control software, Order Processing software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumferences, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid Oklahoma Driver's License
Must be able to obtain a Plumbing Apprentice License within 6 months of employment.
