Responsibilities

REPORTS TO:

Director of Intake

SUMMARY STATEMENT & PURPOSE

The Receptionist is responsible for greeting and assisting all visitors, answering the telephones, maintaining the facility census book, documenting incoming deliveries, and providing clerical support as requested. In addition, the Receptionist assists with various clerical duties and projects as assigned.

All employees are expected to be pleasant, respectful, and courteous in all interactions with patients, families, staff, and visitors of the Hospital, as well as being a positive representative of INBH at all times.

PER DIEM POSITION- NO SET SCHEDULE/ON CALL

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two (2) years experience on a multi-line telephone, preferably in a health care environment. Or any combination of applicable education, training, or experience in a hospital environment.

SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

All functions are essential functions unless otherwise noted.

The job functions of this position are not limited to the duties listed below.

  1. Follow the facility guest relations program when greeting and assisting all visitors, ensuring all visitors sign the visitor log and obtain a visitor pass.
  2. Answer and disseminate all incoming calls on the switchboard in a professional and courteous manner within three rings.
  3. Utilize the paging system.
  4. Coordinate mail flow in and out of office (use of mail boxes)
  5. If assigned, provide clerical support to admissions:
    1. Collate admission folder as required
    2. Perform data entry functions to revise patient data as required
    3. Ensure an adequate supply of pre-stuffed admission folders and distribute properly
  6. If assigned, provide assistance to patients and employees, such as making change, checking valuables, providing meal tickets, and providing postage as required.
  7. Facilitate employee meal ticket program.
  8. Complete a variety of clerical projects as assigned.

Qualifications

PHYSICAL & SENSORY REQUIREMENTS, WORK ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to work at least a 40-hour week.
  • Ability to sit for long periods (8 to 10 hours).
  • Ability to use both hands in fine manipulation of small tools (copier, computer, telephone, typewriter, calculator, safe, facsimile machine).
  • Ability to push and pull up to 10 lbs. (file cabinet drawers, computer paper boxes).
  • Ability to see well enough to read handwritten and typewritten material.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. to move/transfer file boxes, and data processing paper.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, and bend to retrieve files from bottom shelves and drawers, to move boxes of paper and forms to computer printer.
  • Ability to reach, turn, and twist above and below the waist.
  • Ability to stand and walk the facility grounds.
  • Ability to handle a variety of repetitive tasks at a moderate level.
  • Ability to occasionally handle electrical, mechanical, or equipment emergencies.
