Salary: £34,905 - £37,173 (dependent on experience)

Contract Type: Open Ended (permanent)

Location: Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Didcot, Oxfordshire OX11 0QX

STFCs Technology Department now have an exciting opportunity for a Business Operations Co-ordinator to join our Business Operations Management team. Based at our Harwell Campus, the role will be supporting the bid to project lifecycle of a department with a portfolio of significant projects supporting, designing and developing new state-of-the-art scientific facilities of national and international importance.

Technology Department Business Operations Team are looking for a capable administrator to join our friendly, established group. As a group, we work closely with both departmental staff and colleagues across support functions such as Finance and Legal. You will aid in the management of the Technology bid process, taking the lead for the new bid register, reviews and ensuring that all procedures are followed. You will also be involved in developing the process, keeping it relevant and ensuring documentation is stored and reviewed.

You will also be aiding the development of management information, gathering data to enable analysis and making recommendations where necessary. This could be financial or staff resource data which provides insightful business intelligence for the Senior Leadership team.

Super organised and enthusiastic, you will be an integral part of the team, helping ensure that the bid-to-project life cycle runs smoothly within the department. You will interact with numerous people daily from inside and outside STFC, and you will often work autonomously on your given tasks.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining accurate and consistent project financial information to assist with the departments forecasting process.
  • Acting as a central point of contact for the Technology bid process and related queries.
  • Using SharePoint to create and maintain comprehensive bid documentation; ensuring this documentation is updated and version-controlled; keeping records and files in good order.
  • Organising meetings, taking notes and ensuring actions are followed up and closed out.

About You (Essential Shortlisting Criteria)

  • You will be educated to GCSE level, with A-C in English and Maths (or equivalent) and demonstrate proficient use of Microsoft Office tools.
  • You will have experience working in a business support/administrator role.
  • You will be a strong multitasker who can work both independently and as part of a team, and have the ability to prioritise in an ambiguous work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including being a solid communicator and demonstrate a high level of customer service.
  • Have an analytical mindset, with the ability to gather and interpret data to drive decision-making and planning.
