The Culture, Organisational Design and Development team is excited to share an opportunity for an Organisation Design and Development (OD&D) Lead.

The IPO has a refreshed and ambitious new Strategy 2024-27, supported by clear direction for Leadership and Management and our overall culture. This role will lead new and ongoing organisational design activity and development priorities, including those across leadership and culture as mentioned above. Line management of OD&D practitioners may also fall into the scope of this role. OD&D work is varied in breadth and depth: it brings together research, analysis, innovation and improvement, diagnostics and dialogue across structures, people, and processes.

We are looking for someone who has experience of diagnosing, designing, developing, and delivering OD&D solutions in a range of contexts and enjoys working at a fast pace.

The successful candidate will be someone who welcome challenging, varied and rewarding work and can navigate complex situations with competing demands and/or priorities.

Working location

This role will be carried out in-line with IPO Hybrid working arrangements where staff are currently expected to spend at least 40% of their time working onsite from one of our offices. This role is based in our Newport office.

The requirement for attendance at an office location can vary by role so we would encourage candidates to discuss working arrangements with the recruiting manager to agree a reasonable balance between working from home and the office.

As part of the Culture, Organisation Design and Development team, we expect colleagues to be spending an average of 40% of their time onsite with their team(s)/others. This may look different on a week-by-week basis and depending on the type of work you're undertaking.

Job description

Key duties include:
• Design and deliver individual, group and organisation-wide interventions supporting the implementation of a range of OD&D activity linked to leadership and management, employee experience and our structures

• Lead organisation design activity from initial scoping to completion, including the forming and reorganisation of activity and structures, using a variety of new and existing data sources to inform recommendations and decisions

• Confidently influence and engage with our Board, organisation leaders and Committees across the IPO, providing challenge where needed, securing commitment and leadership of change activities to support our strategic ambitions

• Develop and manage plans of activity, including projects, ensuring alignment and coherence with dependant or linked work

• Lead on the development of relevant principles, options and recommendations for approval by IPO Board and Committees

• Work closely with linked teams and professions, including Communications, and business change colleagues, to ensure that engagement is effective, timely and considerate; this may include establishing ways of working with teams/individuals delivering linked work

• Be an active member of the Culture, OD&D Leadership Team, supporting the learning and growth of others, the smooth running of the team, addressing our own People Survey actions and making the most out of our in-person time together

• Play an active role in the IPO Leadership & Management Community

The post holder will:

• Be an experienced OD&D professional with a proven track record of delivering organisational change and coaching, developing, leading and motivating others to do the same

• Have a recognised HR / OD&D qualification (MCIPD Level 7 preferred) or have demonstrable, relevant experience.
