Interdisciplinary Biologist / Physical Scientist (Data Scientist)

This is an Interdisciplinary Natural Resources Program Manager position, you must meet the BASIC educational requirement for at least ONE series *AND* meet the Specialized Experience and/or Education in order to qualify for this position. Basic Requirement for the Physical Scientist: A. Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Basic Requirement for the Biologist GS-0401: A: Have successfully completed a bachelor's or higher in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR B: Have a combination of education and experience in courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Note: You must submit your transcripts. To qualify for this position at the GS-12 grade level, you must possess all of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: (1) Preparation, cleaning, and summarization of scientific data for use in analysis and reporting, including experience creating SQL queries. (2) Creation of R or python to evaluate and report the status and trends of scientific data. (3) Developing technical requirements to guide creation of data collection, quality management, data processing, or automated reporting applications/tools. (4) Using and improving enterprise level applications for management and dissemination of scientific information products. You must include hours per week worked. You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies". Experience listed as full-time will be credited at 40 hours per week. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
