HGV Techncian (JETS) - Grade F , Permanent, Full-time position - (Salary: £29,874 - £35,982) + On call/standby allowance (salary is negotiable)

About the Opportunity:

Location: Based at Trentham Lakes, Stoke-on-Trent.

Salary: £29,874 - £35,982 + On call/standby allowance (salary is negotiable).

As an HGV Technician, you will play a crucial role in our Joint Fleet Team, ensuring that vehicles are maintained to the highest standards as outlined in our procedures, while adhering to Health and Safety policies.

Your duties will include performing inspections, repairs, and servicing on a range of Emergency Equipment & Fire Appliances, ensuring compliance with VOSA legislation.

You will also take part in a 24-hour Call Out Rota and Out of Hours Standby to support the entire fleet, with opportunities to supplement your salary. You will be part of a 1 in 8 rota, covering 12 hours during weekdays or 24 hours on weekends. A "standby" fee is provided for each 12-hour period, and call outs are compensated at 1.5 times the hourly wage rate.

The work schedule is flexible, alternating weekly between:

Monday to Thursday 9:00-17:00.

Friday 7:30-15:00 for all staff members.

This is a diverse role which includes analysis, diagnostics and road testing of vehicles. Technicians receive training and development from manufacturers, with opportunities to specialise and gain expertise or accreditation in specific or multiple brands. We offer developmental opportunities for you to progress to the highest scale and advancement to management level.

Our ongoing vehicle replacement programme ensures you work with modern equipment in a clean workshop, complete with excellent rest facilities, cooking equipment, hot water boilers, and outdoor seating. Transport is provided to staff members on call as they are not expected to use their personal vehicle for business purposes.

Based at Trentham Lakes, Stoke-on-Trent, you'll join a supportive fleet team. Our staff are collaborative and always ready to assist, answer questions, and provide support. . Qualification essentials

  • Full UK Car Driving Licence and a HGV Licence.
  • Automotive City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2/3 or be able to demonstrate relevant experience and qualifications as a Technician/Mechanic
  • Own Set of Tools
