Job Description

Title: Vice Principal (Girls' Provision)

Salary: £48,000 - £52,000

Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Start Date: January 2025 or sooner


My client is a registered independent alternative provision school with sports as a specialism that educates students referred by mainstream schools and the Local Authority. As part of their growth and development plans they are now seeking a strong, confident leader to take on the role of Vice Principal for Girls' Provision.


Based in the heart of Southwark, London, they emphasise pastoral care and take a holistic approach towards education and aim to enhance the academic, well-being and personal growth of all students of all abilities.


Staff members, and particularly leaders within the organisation, play a vital role in the lives of their students. Therefore, they take a proactive approach to the development and well-being of all staff and are wholly committed to investing through CPD, internal support and wellbeing development. They take great pride in appreciating, promoting and celebrating the diversity and individuality of all students, staff and partners.


As Vice Principal your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Pupil's Education, Training, and Recreation
  • Quality of Education, Curriculum and Pedagogy
  • Girls', SEND and Pastoral provision
  • Line Management for Subject Coordinators
  • Enrichment, Pupil Premium, and diminishing differences.
  • Managing and mentoring ECT's


As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team you will contribute to the SEF and SIP, referrals and reviews, present to the Board and deputise for the Principal where required.


You will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK along with successful teaching experience at various levels in Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • A solid understanding of the Ofsted framework. Previous experience and/or knowledge of Independent Schools Standards would be highly desirable.
  • Experience of successful line management, performance management and staff development
  • Experience of positive behaviour management in challenging settings
  • Up to date knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education, Safeguarding and GDPR compliance
  • Data analysis skills, and the ability to use data to set targets and identify areas for improvement
  • Understanding of high-quality teaching based on evidence, and the ability to model this for others and support others to improve
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with effective communication and interpersonal skills
