With doctors, nurses, specialists, labs and medical records all interlinked and coordinated, patient care has never been in better hands.The Referral Coordinator for the OBGYN division will be responsible for obtaining and handling referrals for patients, insurance verifications, and OB payment plans. This position will also be responsible for handling medical record requests and ensuring compliance with records requests. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsible for obtaining referrals for office visits when appropriateResponsible for timely and accurate insurance verifications for patients of South Denver OBGYNResponsible for coordinating and scheduling all incoming referralsCreate and maintain OB payment plans.Responsible for release of records for incoming and outgoing medical record requests Maintains accurate documentation of medical record disclosureRoutinely checks physicians' schedules for any additional add-on appointments requiring records for referralsServes as an OBGYN representative to referring physician offices, insurance carriers and patientsCommunicate and collaborate with multiple departments as needed to ensure all referrals are facilitatedKeeps supervisor and clinic leadership fully informed of referral activities, pertinent issues, upcoming events and potential problemsAssists practice staff courteously and professionallyMust be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviationsMust be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situationsBacks up front desk when needed JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED: --- Knowledge of medical office procedures --- Knowledge of managed care organizations and insurance carriers' requirements of pre-notification of medical services --- Knowledge of medical terminology required --- Must have excellent verbal communication skills --- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information --- Knowledge of computer and job-related softwareEDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two years related experience in a medical practice in insurance processing and follow up.SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilitiesJOB ELEMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
