YOUR NEW ROLE:

Southend-on-Sea City Council on behalf of the Southend Safeguarding Children’s Partnership (SSCP)

Job Location

Hybrid working with some face-to-face meetings/events within Southend City

Contract Type

Up to 30 days per annum of Independent Scrutiny. The role is subject to a three-year tenure and allows for a notice period of 2 months by either side, should an early termination be required.

Remuneration

Payment at a competitive daily rate subject to negotiation.

Southend's Lead Safeguarding Partners are looking for an individual with requisite experience and expertise in safeguarding, to undertake the role of Independent Scrutineer for Southend Safeguarding Children Partnership (SSCP).

The successful candidate will be joining a mature safeguarding partnership who are eager to use the opportunities provided by recent changes in statutory safeguarding guidance to strengthen safeguarding for all children and young people in our City. The Independent Scrutineer will have a key role providing challenge to the partnership to deliver against the priorities of the children of the city, Safety and Wellbeing, March 2024.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED:

The Independent Scrutineer will support the Lead and Delegated Safeguarding Partners to provide strong leadership to deliver against strategic priorities. This will include working with strategic leaders from Southend-on-Sea City Council, Essex Police and Mid and South Essex NHS Integrated Care Board acting as a ‘critical friend’. You will have the knowledge, skills and experience to provide effective support and challenge at strategic and operational levels working with the SSCP to drive the continuous improvement of safeguarding practice and the protection of children, across the city.
