Mental Health Housing Support Worker

Worcestershire - Working primarily in our Kidderminster service

Fixed term contract (6-month maternity cover), part time (18 hpw),

£12.00 per hour (£23,464 per year [pro rata]), plus Sleep In shifts of £50.00 and great benefits including Health Cash Plan!

Typical day as a Mental Health Housing Support Worker:

  • Start your day knowing you're making a difference by assisting our customers with daily living tasks, making each day brighter and more manageable for them, you will need to able to lone work and have a good knowledge of supporting people in a person-centred way.
  • We provide support to the customers to rebuild their independent living skills - so you will be encouraging people to develop these skills - we work alongside the customers to develop - so at times you may be getting stuck in to support the customers to clean their property, and teaching them cleaning routines, planning and cooking meals in a 1:1 cooking session, supporting the customer to access the community to rebuild their confidence - we are not a domiciliary care service - therefore there is no personal care or administration of medication in this role.
  • Support the customer to maximise their income by supporting them to apply for the right benefits.
  • Dive into personalised support by helping customers with budgeting, meal preparation, and shopping, promoting independence at every step.
  • Be a friendly face and a helping hand, accompanying our customers to appointments, ensuring they have the support they need, when they need it.
  • Engage in meaningful interactions, supporting our customers to connect with their communities and embrace social opportunities.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, bringing together your skills to create a supportive and nurturing environment for our customers.
  • Document and share the progress, keeping accurate records that contribute to the well-being and support of our customers.

You bring

  • A passion for supporting vulnerable individuals, motivated by the desire to make positive and lasting changes in their lives.
  • Experience in care or support roles, with a keen understanding of safeguarding, risk assessments, and confidentiality, the ability to lone work and to be able to manage a case load of customers effectively.
  • Empathy and the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries, paired with the resilience to manage challenging behaviours.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to motivate and encourage others with patience and understanding.
  • Flexibility to work on a 24-hour rota basis, accommodating the varying needs of our customers with a readiness to adapt.
  • You will have knowledge of the benefits and housing systems so that you can effectively support the customers with their needs.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and development, embracing opportunities to enhance your skills and contribute to the professional growth of our team.

Our team Youll join Katie and Claire and our Worcestershire team, were super passionate about what we do! Were really proud of the work that we do with our customers to enable them to rebuild their independent living skills to be able to move forward in their lives. Were a supportive bunch and like to get together in work - having team meetings, fun days and barbeques with all the customers from the different properties, and outside of work whether its going out for meals, going to the theatre or for a night out! Job details

  • Flexible working hours (or were open to agreeing a work pattern with you)
  • Where were flexible with you, we do need to meet the needs of our customers. That may mean adapting your start or finishing times on occasion.
  • Work pattern - the service is manned on a rota basis - therefore you will be expected to complete your share of evenings, weekends and bank holiday - you will also be completing sleep in shifts at the service. We complete the rota's so that you have 4 weeks notice of any changes that we need to make to meet the needs of the service - so you will have plenty of time to plan your work/life balance. Many of our staff enjoy to utilise condensed hours so that they work longer shifts over fewer days!
  • Although youll work evenings and lone work, we do get together regularly for training and team meetings.
  • Able to use technology to update support plans, complete online learning and to collaborate with colleagues.
  • Youll need an Enhanced DBS check done and we pay for that.
