Commercial Manager


My client is recruiting for a Commercial Manager for their repairs, strengthens and waterproofs concrete and steel structures, offering a tailored package of specialist works to clients across the UK. Our structural solutions include bridge deck waterproofing, expansion joints, concrete repair and cathodic protection works, steel repair and strengthening work, carbon fibre and temporary works, jacking and bearing replacement.


I am seeking a Commercial Manager to support the Divisional Director in ensuring the continued success of our Major Projects South business unit. Based out of the Reading office, this role covers the entire South of England.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Full Accountability: Commercial Manager will lead the successful delivery of the business unit in collaboration with the Commercial Director.
  • Business Development: Commercial Manager will drive initiatives for growth and work-winning strategies.
  • Resource Management: Commercial Manager will oversee staff resource planning and development.
  • Project Delivery: Commercial Manager to ensure successful delivery of projects and frameworks.
  • Client and Subcontractor Relations: Maintain and develop strong relationships with clients and subcontractors.
  • External Representation: Act as a high-level representative of the client, providing exceptional commercial and contractual support.


Major Projects South enjoys a secure future order book backed by frameworks and negotiated contracts with repeat clients.


About you


Essential:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or alternatively a degree in building / construction or civils engineering and relevant experience obtained within the Construction Industry as a Quantity Surveyor for a minimum of 15 years
  • An ability to identify problems and build relationships in order to resolve complex & / or ambiguous issues
  • Experience with the NEC form of contracts.


Desirable:

  • An accredited course by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES) or the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
