Junior Sous Chef
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Junior Sous Chef to join this large brigade located in an educational setting in the heart of Cambridge. Shifts are straight shifts 37.5 hrs per week.
As a Junior Sous you will be responsible for overseeing the culinary operations and ensuring the smooth running of our kitchen and be a pivotal member of the team, reporting directly to the Sous and Head Chefs. If you have a passion for food, excellent leadership skills, and a strong background in food preparation and hospitality, we want to hear from you!
This role is varied and challenging, we need a Junior Sous who likes the variety and style in food service, a chef that enjoys both function and restaurant style cooking.
Responsibilities for the Junior Sous Chef:
- Supervise and coordinate all aspects of food production in the kitchen
-Ensuring all food stations are staffed appropriately by chefs, ready for service promptly, and maintaining impeccable food presentation throughout the mealtime
- Regularly inspecting all food stations during meal hours to ensure food availability, presentation, and cleanliness of the service area.
- Collaborate with the team to create innovative and delicious menu items
- Adhering strictly to all HACCP and Food Safety protocols.
- Monitor inventory levels and place orders for ingredients and supplies as needed
Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 Professional Cookery
- Basic food hygiene qualification
- Understanding of HACCP & COSHH
Skills:
- Safe preparation and variety of cooking methods and have the ability to mentor junior members of the team
- Ability to motivate staff with a positive and happy demeanor
- Self motivated and with a passion for the hospitality industry and desire to continue learning

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to £33,462.00 per year

- Chef: 5 years (required)
